Elm Oyster Mushroom

Scientific Name: Pleurotus Ulmarius – Elm Oyster
Difficulty: Beginners – Fast Grower and very forgiving
Application: Edible and Medicinal Uses
Characteristics: Medium bright white oyster mushroom, very tasty!
Temperature Range: Mild to cool temperature strain, will fruit on 12-25°c temperature range (Best 13-22°c )
Cooking: Sweeter and more deliciated then other Oysters has an amazing flavor. Suitable for any dish you would consider using mushrooms in including stir fries, pastas, curries, pies and pizzas. A characteristic of this mushroom is while cooking it doesn’t release much liquid like Button mushrooms, becoming a meaty, quite filling final ingredient. Ideal for pizzas, one will not need to stir fry this mushroom before topping a pizza as it doesn’t release much liquid.

 

Tan Oyster Mushroom

Scientific Name: Pleurotus Ostreatus – Tan Oyster Mushroom
Difficulty:
Beginners – Fast growing commercial strain with great yields
Application:

Characteristics: Medium brown cap. oyster mushroom.
Temperature Range: Mild warm temperature strain, will fruit on 10-26°c temperature range (Best 15-24°c )
Cooking: Suitable for any dish you would consider using mushrooms in including stir fries, pastas, curries, pies and pizzas. A characteristic of this mushroom is while cooking it doesn’t release much liquid like Bottom mushrooms, becoming a meaty, quite filling final ingredient. Pink Oyster Mushroom

Scientific Name: Pleurotus Djamour – Pink Oyster
Difficulty: Beginners – Fast Grower in warm climate, fade but strong mycelium run.
Application: Edible
Characteristics: Medium Pink oyster mushroom. Side growing. Doesn’t develop much of a stem, it’s gilled cap protruding from substrate
Temperature Range: Warm strain (need at least 18°c to fruit), temperature range 18-30°c (Best 18-26°c )
Cooking: Suitable for any dish you would consider using mushrooms, sweet and seafood notes.

 

Phoenix Oyster Mushroom

Scientific Name: Pleurotus pulmonarius
Difficulty: Beginners – They colonize quickly and are reliable producers.
Application: Edible, Common commercial strains widely grown.
Characteristics: Medium to large-cap oyster mushroom, with a light brown and beautiful curly cap edges.
Temperature Range: Median, will fruit on 14-24°c temperature range
Cooking: Phoenix Oysters (Also know as Italian Oysters) can easily replace button mushrooms in most recipes and pair well with many cuisines and flavours. Like all Oyster mushrooms, they retain water and may develop a viscous texture when undercooked. If you prefer a firm or dryer texture, continue to cook Italian Oysters until their liquid has reduced and cooked off and they begin to brown.
